The Krimml Waterfalls are situated in the western growth area of the inner alpine spruce and fir woods. Today, we find mainly spruce woods with various plants as scrub, for example ostrich fern, mountain ash, lady’s mantle, golden cinquefoil, grass of Parnassus, and many others. There are 327 different kinds of moss prospering in the mizzle of the Krimml Waterfalls, among them

1 rock moss, 17 sphagnum mosses,

88 liverworts and 221 bryopsida.

Bird life at the Krimml Waterfalls
The surroundings of the Krimml Waterfalls offer

a habitat for 62 bird species, 9 of which are on

the Red List. This diversity suggests that there are largely undisturbed environs in harmony

with nature round the waterfalls.
